Slash takes on Chip's Challenge!

Posted by SlashFirestorm - February 27th, 2008

I'm sure some of you older computer users remember Chip's Challenge, an exciting puzzle/adventure game released with Windows years back. Now, I'm ashamed to admit this, but I never was able to beat the entire game. Oh, I got into the high levels, thanks to CYPHER and all, but I was forced to skip a great deal of levels.

Well now, years later, I have found a download source for the game. And I am going to give it another run.

THIS TIME, I WILL SKIP NO LEVELS. I WILL NOT USE ANY PASSWORDS. I WILL BEAT EVERY SINGLE FUCKING LEVEL.

I should be able to with ease, right? I'm 22 now. I'm an International Baccalaureate graduate. I have a 1350 SAT score. I've been playing video games---including puzzle/adventures---for 14 years now. There is no reason I should not be able to do this.

I SHALL ENDEAVOR TO ANNIHILATE THIS GAME. AND YOU, MY FINE FRIENDS, SHALL COME ALONG FOR THE RIDE.

LET'S-A-GO!

Levels 1-8, BRING IT ON

Also, if you wish to try the game yourself but can't find a download source, PM me and we'll figure out a way to send it to you.

Slash takes on Chip's Challenge!

CHIPS CHALLENGE! I miss this game, it was amazing. There were some tough levels, too. Weren't there over 100 in all?

I think there were about 150. Crazy stuff.

I've been gaming for 14 years and I'm 16.... lol.

ELMO'S READING ADVENTURE!

Also, Chip's Challenge is awesome, played it a couple of times when I went this really old library.

I first played it when it came packaged with one of the older Windows versions, so I've forgotten most of the levels (most of which I didn't beat anyway). It works alright on Vista, except that Vista (or at least my audio driver) doesn't seem to be compatible with MIDI files, so I can't hear the awesome old dorky BGM. :'(

Haha high school is more harder with homework
now cuz of IB. Lols. But im sure it'll all pay off in the
future?

Yeah, the IB program is worth it. You'll come out of high school way ahead of the game.

Man I cant find chips challenge for vista. Can you help me out? When I click it it says its not compatible for this version of windows and to check my system info to see if I need x85 (32 bit) or x64 (64 bit) I have no idea what this means. Thanks.

Late reply is late, so I'll PM you with this info as well.

I got that message when I tried to open the game with the actual .exe file of the game isn't in the same directory as the component files. Be sure to access the game from the folder or simply make a shortcut to the .exe file on your desktop or whatever. If separated, the game will not run.

I can't run it on my computer. It's a windows 7 64x(64 bits).
I get the error message SHIGAL777 got, and I have the exe in the same folder as all the resource files.

I have no clue how to make it work then. :'(

:( Can you PM me on how to get it to work on Windows Vista as well?

Most common problem is having the .exe file somewhere other than the resource folder. Keep all the files in the same place and make a shortcut to the .exe for ease of access. Don't just drag the .exe onto the desktop or something.
